Kiri. The paulownia of the imperial household. Reserved historically for the highest court ranks — the crest of distinction in service of the Chrysanthemum Throne, here in sumi-black katazome silk.

The ground is sumi — the same ink-black used in classical calligraphy and Noh costume — dyed by the katazome resist process. Against it, the kiri crest is executed in kinsai: gold metallic painting applied by hand over the base embroidery, with vermilion accents that deepen to orange under warm light. The kikkō tortoiseshell hexagon framing the motif is a secondary auspicious symbol — the geometry of long life. The black gives the composition its weight. The gold gives it its rank.

A pillow for ivory linen, charcoal, deep oak, rooms with one collected object — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table.

Envelope pocket closure. No metal touches the visible silk.

Renaras: Japanese ceremonial silk, reimagined for daily life.

Shipping

Free shipping across Europe. Delivered within 3–5 business days. International shipping available — contact us for rates. All pieces are wrapped individually in tissue and despatched in a rigid, protective box.

Returns

Returns accepted within 14 days of receipt, provided the piece is returned in its original condition. As every textile is singular and unrepeatable, we ask that pieces are handled with care. Please contact us before returning. Read the full returns policy.

Care

Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
