We are glad you found us

You have come a little out of your way to be here, and we are glad of it.

Each piece that leaves this atelier carries a history longer than its making. The silk was woven in Japan, for an occasion a family thought worth marking, and kept long after. It came to Amsterdam, and here, with some care and no hurry, it was cut and remade by hand into something new, without losing what it was.

When a piece becomes yours, we think of it less as a sale than as something placed in your keeping. The silk passes to you, and with it as much of its story as we have been able to learn: the weave, the kind of occasion it was made for, the journey that brought it to the atelier. We will tell you what we know, and we will not pretend to know more than we do.

Our hope is a modest one. That the piece brings you beauty, a little stillness in the room it enters, and in time the quiet pleasure of living with something that cannot be replaced, because it was never meant to be.
