Kogane no obi. The golden sash. A contemporary composition of metallic gold and pastel light, carried over the shoulder.

The silk is a lustrous champagne gold ground worked with horizontal bundles of raised metallic thread — sculptural ridges that catch the light like brushstrokes laid in sequence. Beneath the gold, the weave shifts through soft coral, dusty sky blue, lavender-mauve, and pale silver, the palette of a rainbow held in low tones. The composition is bold, banded, contemporary; it carries the weight of the obi as architecture rather than ornament.

A bag for slow afternoons and unhurried entrances — a pale linen dress, a wool overcoat, a midweek lunch worth dressing for.

The silk is the original obi face, designed and finished into a knot bag at the Renaras atelier. Knotted self-closure, silk lining. No metal touches the silk. No clasp, no hardware, no zip.

Renaras: Japanese ceremonial silk, reimagined for daily life.

Each piece arrives with its own passport from the atelier — a small handmade record of the silk's first life and its transformation, signed and dated in Amsterdam.

Returns

Returns accepted within 14 days of receipt, provided the piece is returned in its original condition. As every textile is singular and unrepeatable, we ask that pieces are handled with care. Please contact us before returning. Read the full returns policy.

Care

Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
