Asa. The summer obi. The linen counterpart to silk in the Japanese ceremonial tradition — woven from bast fibres for the warmer months, equally formal, equally considered.
The runner is drawn from a Japanese ceremonial linen obi — a textile woven from natural linen in a loose, tactile structure, the slight irregularity of the weave giving the surface a quiet presence that uniformly woven cloth cannot replicate. The ground is natural undyed kinari, framed by a grid applied through hand-dyeing in the kasuri-ikat tradition: sections of the warp are resist-dyed before weaving, so that the pattern carries a natural softness of edge — not the hard line of printed fabric, but the diffused boundary of dye absorbed into fibre. Broad horizontal and vertical bands in warm ochre and terracotta cross with lines of indigo. The kinari ground gives the composition its calm. The kasuri grid gives it its structure.
A runner that turns the daily table into something a little finer — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared meal.
The runner is lined in undyed silk to protect the face. No metal touches the visible textile.

Care
Care
Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
