Hi-iro. The vermilion of ritual fire. The orange-red of lacquered shrine gates, of the Torii that marks the threshold between the ordinary and the sacred — woven here across silk that responds to candlelight.
The ground is dyed in hi-iro, warmer than pure red, more alive than orange. Across this living ground, large-scale hana floral motifs are woven in raised metallic silver Nishijin thread, their pale lustre set against the warm vermilion in a contrast of temperature and material that is the hallmark of the finest Kyoto ceremonial weaving. The silver thread is wound around a silk core in the kinran technique, giving it flexibility and lustre that flat metal thread cannot achieve. The vermilion gives the composition its temperature. The silver gives it its bloom.
A runner that turns the daily table into something a little finer — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared meal.
The runner is lined in undyed silk to protect the face. No metal touches the visible silk.

Care
Care
Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
