Kinshi. Gold thread as architecture. Real gold leaf applied to washi paper, cut into narrow strips, woven as thread — the foundation of the Nishijin tradition, here held in pure form.

Both face and reverse carry the same unbroken field of tone-on-tone gold hishi diamond geometry — concentric diamonds repeating with mathematical precision, each containing a small floral centre rendered in the same gold thread at a slightly different weave angle. The pattern reveals itself not through colour but through the play of light alone. The detail rewards close attention: each diamond contains sub-patterns within sub-patterns, fractal-like in depth. The gold is the only colour. The geometry is the only ornament.

A pillow for charcoal sofas, ivory daybeds, minimalist rooms — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table.

Front and back are the same. There is no wrong side. The pillow is the weave, and the weave is gold. Envelope pocket closure. No metal touches the visible silk.

Renaras: Japanese ceremonial silk, reimagined for daily life.

Care

Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
