A lumbar pillow cover in Japanese ceremonial silk, cut from a Nishijin fukuro obi (袋帯): the aoi (葵, Tokugawa hollyhock crest) set in a shippo (七宝, seven-treasures) ground across persimmon silk. Envelope-pocket back, no metal against the silk; 50 × 31 cm (also 36 × 31 cm). For warm, heraldic interiors. Spot clean only. Unrepeatable, finished at the Renaras atelier, Amsterdam.

Aoi. The crest of the Tokugawa. The hollyhock crest of Japan's most enduring shogunal house — rendered here on persimmon silk with the shippo seven-treasures border.

Against a warm persimmon silk ground, the aoi crest sits in fields of shippo — the seven-treasures geometry of interlocking circles — in burnished gold and metallic thread. The persimmon gives the composition its warmth. The aoi gives it its lineage.

A pillow for charcoal sofas, walnut studies, rooms that hold one collected object — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table.

The face is the original silk, backed in undyed linen. Envelope pocket closure. No metal touches the visible silk.

Shipping

Free shipping across Europe. Delivered within 3–5 business days. International shipping available — contact us for rates. All pieces are wrapped individually in tissue and despatched in a rigid, protective box.

Returns

Returns accepted within 14 days of receipt, provided the piece is returned in its original condition. As every textile is singular and unrepeatable, we ask that pieces are handled with care. Please contact us before returning. Read the full returns policy.

Care

Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
