The Ryusui Silver Wave is a Japanese silk lumbar pillow handcrafted by Renaras from an authentic vintage Fukuro Obi, woven in the Nishijin tradition of Kyoto. Against a vivid Kaki-iro (persimmon orange) silk ground — a colour revered in the Japanese tradition since the Edo period for its association with vitality, harvest, and the confident warmth of a well-considered life — undulating currents of Ryusui (流水), the flowing water motif, move across the surface in genuine silver foil thread (gin-shi), raised and architectural, catching light like water catching sky.

Ryusui is among the oldest decorative motifs in the Japanese canon. It appears on Heian-era lacquerware, on the robes of court nobles, and on the finest Nishijin Obi of every subsequent century — always carrying the same meaning: the beauty of flow, the grace of movement, the understanding that water finds its way without force. The gin-shi silver foil threads used here are not printed or dyed. They are woven into the structure of the silk itself, strand by strand, on hand-operated Jacquard looms by a class of artisan that no longer exists at commercial scale.

The persimmon-silver palette is the most boldly confident combination in the Renaras collection. It does not ask permission.
