A lumbar pillow cover in Japanese ceremonial silk, cut from a Nishijin fukuro obi (袋帯): sweeping noshi (熨斗, ceremonial streamers of blessing) across a champagne-gold ground. Envelope-pocket back, no metal against the silk; 50 × 31 cm. For a single auspicious gesture. Spot clean only. Unrepeatable, finished at the Renaras atelier, Amsterdam.

Noshi. The bundle of blessings. The ceremonial auspicious streamer of Japanese visual culture — the visual shorthand for fortune, longevity and the marking of significant moments.

Across a luminous champagne-gold ground, sweeping arcs of noshi unfurl in dramatic, dynamic curves, each bound by vermilion and copper-orange ribbon ties woven in raised, textured thread. Scattered between the streamers, pearl-white dewdrops float like suspended blessings. The gold metallic thread radiates in fine parallel lines — almost architectural — while the heavier ribbon ties sit proud of the surface. The contrast between flat luminosity and raised texture gives the composition a sculptural quality. The champagne gives it its ground. The vermilion gives it its voice.

A pillow for charcoal sofas, cream daybeds, Japandi interiors that welcome ceremony without disrupting calm — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table.

The face is the original silk. The reverse is finished in the obi's original champagne satin — soft, luminous, perfectly weighted. Envelope pocket closure. No metal touches the visible silk.

Care

Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
