A Kyoto garden at golden hour. Woven once. In silk.
The Golden Autumn Anthology is a Japanese silk lumbar pillow handcrafted by Renaras from an authentic vintage Fukuro Obi, woven in the Nishijin tradition of Kyoto. Against a shimmering turmeric-gold silk ground, a lush profusion of Kiku (菊) chrysanthemums and wild autumn grasses (Aki-kusa) unfurl in an embroidery-style weave of remarkable three-dimensional depth — deep vermilion, royal purple, and fresh sage in layered metallic and coloured thread that brings each bloom forward from the surface as though suspended in September light.
Kiku in autumn is among the most celebrated subjects in the entire Japanese aesthetic tradition — the moment when the chrysanthemum, already the imperial flower, reaches its most opulent expression against the changing season. The Kiku festival (Choyo no Sekku), observed at the imperial court since the Nara period, celebrated the flower's association with longevity and the beauty of things that endure beyond their season. This pillow carries that entire tradition in its warp and weft.
The turmeric-gold and multicolour palette makes this the most celebratory piece in the Renaras collection — vivid without aggression, abundant without excess. Exceptional against deep charcoal, dark teal, warm ivory, or the natural linen of a Japandi sofa. The piece that makes a room feel alive.
One autumn. One silk. The harvest is yours.
