Kikkō. The hexagon of ten thousand years. The tortoiseshell geometry of the Japanese imperial court, joined here by hishi diamonds and ichimatsu checkerboard — a library of pattern held in one silk.

Across a warm gold silk ground, an architectural mosaic of Japan's most ancient geometric patterns overlaps and interlocks: kikkō tortoiseshell hexagons outlined in coral-orange, hishi concentric diamond lozenges, and ichimatsu checkerboard fields in olive-sage green. Each pattern occupies its own territory, meeting its neighbour at a precisely woven boundary. Touches of pale blue and pink emerge at the intersections. The gold gives the composition its ground. The geometric fields give it its codex.

A pillow for charcoal sofas, mid-century interiors, Scandinavian daybeds, study libraries — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table.

The face carries the geometric mosaic. The reverse is finished in the obi's original gold satin with a refined sayagata diamond weave — a quieter geometry that echoes the face. Envelope pocket closure. No metal touches the visible silk.

Renaras: Japanese ceremonial silk, reimagined for daily life.

Returns

Returns accepted within 14 days of receipt, provided the piece is returned in its original condition. As every textile is singular and unrepeatable, we ask that pieces are handled with care. Please contact us before returning. Read the full returns policy.

Care

Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
