A lumbar pillow cover in Japanese ceremonial silk, cut from a Nishijin fukuro obi (袋帯): the sixteen-petalled imperial kiku (菊, chrysanthemum) radiating in copper-gold thread from a silver centre on a burnished copper ground. Undyed linen reverse, envelope-pocket back, no metal against the silk; 50 × 31 cm. For aged brass, raw linen and warm oak. Spot clean only. Unrepeatable, finished at the Renaras atelier, Amsterdam.

Kiku. The personal seal of the Emperor. The sixteen-petalled imperial chrysanthemum — the most venerated botanical symbol in the Japanese ceremonial vocabulary, here in disciplined monochrome metallic.

Against a burnished copper silk ground — warm, deep, luminous in the way only fine ceremonial silk reads — the kiku radiates outward in copper-gold thread from a luminous silver centre. No secondary motifs. No competing narratives. Only the chrysanthemum, in disciplined monochrome metallic palette. The copper gives the composition its warmth. The kiku gives it its lineage.

A pillow for aged brass, raw linen, travertine, warm oak — and a counterpoint to charcoal or forest green. Quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table.

The face is the original silk, backed in undyed linen. Envelope pocket closure. No metal touches the visible silk.

Shipping

Free shipping across Europe. Delivered within 3–5 business days. International shipping available — contact us for rates. All pieces are wrapped individually in tissue and despatched in a rigid, protective box.

Returns

Returns accepted within 14 days of receipt, provided the piece is returned in its original condition. As every textile is singular and unrepeatable, we ask that pieces are handled with care. Please contact us before returning. Read the full returns policy.

Care

Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
