A lumbar pillow cover in Japanese ceremonial silk, cut from a Nishijin fukuro obi (袋帯): large botan (牡丹, peony) in vermilion and green with scrolling karakusa (唐草), across a champagne-gold ground over a hishi (菱) diamond underweave. Champagne-satin reverse, envelope-pocket back, no metal against the silk; 50 × 31 cm. For charcoal sofas and cream daybeds. Spot clean only. Unrepeatable, finished at the Renaras atelier, Amsterdam.
Botan. The king of flowers. The peony — the East Asian flower of wealth, honour and confident beauty — woven here at scale across a luminous champagne ground.
The silk is luminous champagne-gold, with a subtle hishi diamond underweave. Across the field, large-scale botan peonies unfurl in vivid vermilion-red and deep green, their scrolling karakusa arabesque stems sweeping across the surface with the confidence of calligraphy. Flowing wave-curve bands in tone-on-tone gold add movement between the blooms. The vermilion gives the composition its voice. The gold gives it its ground.
A pillow for charcoal sofas, cream daybeds, rooms with warm-toned ceramics — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared table.
The face carries the peony composition. The reverse is finished in the obi's original champagne satin — soft, luminous, perfectly silent. Envelope pocket closure. No metal touches the visible silk.

Care
Care
Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
