The Champagne Hishi Lattice
The Hishi (菱) — the ancient diamond lattice of Japan's imperial and warrior aristocracy — has adorned court robes, samurai armour lacing, and Noh theatre costume for over a thousand years. Here, it arrives in your home with the quiet authority it has always commanded: a field of interlocking diamonds woven in champagne gold and metallic silver across vintage Fukuro Obi silk from the Shōwa era looms of Nishijin, Kyoto.
The colourway is an exercise in disciplined restraint. Champagne and ivory grounds shift under light, the metallic silver threads catching and releasing luminosity as the hour changes. No colour competes. Nothing is superfluous. This is the language of Ma — Japanese negative space — applied to textile, where the geometry itself becomes the ornament.
In the interior, The Champagne Hishi Lattice belongs wherever stillness is cultivated: the linen sofa of a Parisian hôtel particulier, the window bench of a Copenhagen apartment dressed in pale oak and natural wool, the daybed of a Milanese study where only considered things are permitted. It pairs with equal ease alongside ivory, warm stone, aged brass, or pale celadon — and holds its ground entirely alone.
One piece. Once woven. Never again.
