Bold geometry. Ancient symbol. One piece of silk.
The Vermilion Kikkō Vanguard is a Japanese silk lumbar pillow handcrafted by Renaras from an authentic vintage Fukuro Obi, woven in the Nishijin tradition of Kyoto. Against a midnight-black silk ground, the Kikkō (亀甲) — the tortoiseshell hexagon, one of Japan's oldest symbols of longevity and protection — is rendered in deep vermilion and burnished gold, with flashes of platinum silver at the intersections. At each hexagonal centre, Hanabishi floral crests emerge in layered metallic thread, creating a hypnotic architectural depth that no printed fabric can approach.
The Kikkō pattern has adorned the robes of Japanese nobility for over a thousand years. On this pillow, it arrives in the European interior not as decoration, but as a statement of geometric authority — equally compelling against a monochrome sofa, a richly upholstered armchair, or a bed dressed in deep charcoal linen.
It will not be rewoven.
