A lumbar pillow cover in Japanese ceremonial silk, cut from a Nishijin fukuro obi (袋帯): the tabane-noshi (熨斗, bundled ceremonial streamers — abundance and longevity) in heavy gold across midnight-black silk. Envelope-pocket back, no metal against the silk; 50 × 30 cm. For dark, ceremonial drama. Spot clean only. Unrepeatable, finished at the Renaras atelier, Amsterdam.
Tabane-noshi. The bundle of knotted streamers. Among Japan's most venerated auspicious symbols — abundance, longevity, the grace of giving — woven here in heavy gold across midnight-black silk.
Against a deep midnight-black silk ground, the tabane-noshi is rendered in heavy gold thread, its flowing ribbons embroidered with sakura cherry blossoms, kiku chrysanthemums and kikkō tortoiseshell geometry in vermilion, azure and white. The black gives the composition its authority. The gold gives it its luminance.
