The wheel of Heian nobility. Woven in silk. Once.
The Miyako Noir is a Japanese silk lumbar pillow handcrafted by Renaras from an authentic vintage Fukuro Obi, woven in the Nishijin tradition of Kyoto. Against a deep lacquer-black silk ground — the colour of formal ceremony in the Japanese court tradition — the Genji-guruma (源氏車), the carriage wheel of Heian-era nobility, turns in heavy metallic gold brocade, encircled by the Imperial Kiku chrysanthemum in burnt orange, vermilion, and pearl white. The Genji-guruma motif originates in the Tale of Genji — the world's first novel, written in the eleventh century — where the ox-drawn carriage was the ultimate symbol of aristocratic refinement. To render it in Nishijin silk is to place that lineage directly in your interior.
Commanding against ivory linen, cashmere, or deep charcoal. The defining piece for the collector who understands that true luxury carries a story no price tag can fully express.
One carriage. One silk. Yours alone.
