Patchin are the wooden handles that turn a furoshiki into a bag. Two shaped pieces of hardwood, joined by a cloth loop; the corners of a folded cloth are threaded through, and the bag is made. No knot, no clasp, and the whole surface of the cloth stays visible and unmarked.
The small Patchin suits a 50 × 50 cm furoshiki, a silk scarf or any light cloth: a compact bag for a book, a wallet and a phone, or a wrapped gift that becomes the bag it is carried in. Renaras keeps Patchin in stock; they dispatch within one business day from the atelier in Amsterdam. For a 70 × 70 cm cloth, the long Patchin is the better fit.

Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
