Enji-iro. The colour of ancient ink. The deep burgundy historically produced from safflower in Edo-period Japan — between red and purple, with complete authority.
The foundation is dyed in enji-iro, the colour that appears in the robes of Buddhist monks, the lacquerwork of ceremonial objects, and the most restrained end of the Japanese aristocratic palette. Across this ground, horizontal Shima relief stripes are precision-woven in contrasting ivory silk thread — each stripe raised from the surface in subtle relief. A loom set to tolerances contemporary mass production does not attempt. The burgundy gives the composition its depth. The ivory stripes give it its discipline.
A runner that turns the daily table into something a little finer — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared meal.
The runner is lined in undyed silk to protect the face. No metal touches the visible silk.

Care
Care
Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
