Kinari. The colour of unbleached silk. The natural champagne tone of silk allowed to express its raw colour — the Japanese principle of ma framing wildflowers at each end of the cloth.

The ground is champagne cream — kinari, meaning unbleached, raw, honest. The slubbed matte weave gives it depth and warmth no flat surface conveys. At each end of the runner, two composed panels of embroidered wildflowers are worked in crimson, ochre and leaf green — botanical clusters that anchor the textile while leaving the wide centre entirely unadorned, framing whatever occupies the centre of the table. The asymmetry of decoration is rooted in the Japanese principle of ma: the meaningful use of empty space. The kinari gives the composition its calm. The wildflowers give it its frame.

A runner that turns the daily table into something a little finer — quiet beauty for ordinary moments, gathered around a shared meal.

The runner is lined in undyed silk to protect the face. No metal touches the visible silk.

Care

Spot clean only — these are ceremonial silks, not washable textiles. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the depth of colour. The envelope pocket closure requires no zip or metal clasp touching the silk: this is intentional. Mottainai — nothing wasted, nothing forced.
