Wir bewahren diese einzigartigen Textilien vor dem Verschwinden und interpretieren sie neu als Wandkunst, Tischkultur und luxuriöse Objekte für Zuhause, die Schönheit mit Geschichte schätzen.

About the Atelier

At our atelier on IJsbaanpad in Amsterdam, we work exclusively with Japanese ceremonial silk — obis and kimono textiles woven for ceremony, occasion, and household ritual. Each textile arrives with a history. We design and finish every piece in-house, transforming the silk into wall tapestries, lumbar pillows, table runners, table placemats, framed textile panels, knot bags, and ties.

Our practice is grounded in mottainai — the bringing of new imagination into a living tradition. Every Renaras piece is unrepeatable. Once a silk has been transformed, it cannot be made again.

Every finished piece is accompanied by a Renaras passport — a small handmade record of the silk’s first life and its transformation, signed and dated in Amsterdam.
