The Japanese tradition of wrapping with cloth — furoshiki for everyday gifting, fukusa for ceremony — transforms everything it encloses. What you give arrives already dressed in intention.

At Renaras we offer a wrapping service in two traditions.

Furoshiki (風呂敷) is a square cloth of cotton or rayon, folded around an object with care and precision. It is the democratic form — beautiful in any context, appropriate for any occasion.

Fukusa (袱紗) is a formal square of vintage Japanese ceremonial silk — obi, furisode, the offcuts from our making practice that would otherwise be lost. Each fukusa is hemmed and lined by hand, sized to the object it will wrap. It is a finished object in its own right. The recipient does not discard it. They keep it. This is mottainai (物尽其用): nothing is wasted, everything continues.

The wrapping service is €35 per piece. The cloth — furoshiki or fukusa — is selected and purchased separately. Contact us before placing your order to discuss your piece, the occasion, and the cloth that suits both.
