A Japanese ceremonial silk placemat, one motif from a single obi, finished at the Renaras atelier in Amsterdam.

The silk is burnished terracotta, framed by an aubergine lattice and a dusty blue-grey geometric border. Heavyweight, structured weave. Across the field, chrysanthemums and butterflies open in muted gold and violet, lifted by the same metallic shimmer that runs through the matching runner. The terracotta gives the setting its warmth. The aubergine lattice gives it its frame.
