At Renaras, we define luxury by the ability to arrest time. We are distinguished to present this Uchikake (Outer Wedding Robe)—a garment of such unapologetic opulence and commanding scale that it transforms any space it inhabits into a throne room.
A Tableau of Myth and Gold The canvas is a heavy, lustrous expanse of gilded brocade, shimmering with an internal light that rivals the sun. Dominating this field of gold is the Celestial Peacock (Kujaku), rendered in vibrant threads of royal indigo, crimson, and emerald. In Japanese symbolism, the peacock is a guardian of royalty and a devourer of bad spirits, representing a love that is both fierce and eternal.
He is accompanied by the Red-Crowned Crane (Tsuru) and the Imperial Carriage (Goshoguruma), woven amidst clouds of pine and peony. This is not a subtle garment; it is a riot of auspicious grandeur, a "Karaori" style masterpiece where the embroidery stands in high relief, creating a texture one feels compelled to touch.
The Connoisseur’s Vision: Beyond the Wardrobe At a staggering 203cm in length, this garment is designed to trail across the floor in a "river of gold." While historically worn by a bride for the "Ironaoshi" ceremony, for our European clientele, we envision this piece as monumental interior art.
The Grand Salon: Mounted on a bamboo rod against a dark wall in a Parisian apartment or a Milanese penthouse, it serves as a tapestry of unmatched drama.
The Headboard: Displayed above a master bed, it commands the room with the silence of a museum piece.
The Foyer: Suspended in a double-height entry, the gold threads catch the light throughout the day, changing the mood of the home from dawn to dusk.
The Materiality This is a heavyweight garment, padded at the hem with a traditional scarlet roll, giving it a sculptural weight that hangs perfectly straight and true.
